Oxytetrex L.A (Injection)

Composition Each 100 ml Contains:

Oxytetracycline hydrochloride 23.65 gm.
(Equiv.to 20 gm oxytetracycline base)

 

Indications

It's effective against wide range of gram + ve and gram – ve bacteria as  Spirochaetes, Rickettsia, Chlamydia and Mycoplasma.
Cattle, sheep and goats:
1. Respiratory tract infections as : Pneumonia, Bronchopneumonia and Pleurisy.
2. Gastrointestinal tract infections as:Eenteritis and Gastritis.
3. Pasteurellosis, Calf diphtheria, Foot root, Navel ill.
4. Anaplasmosis, Theileiriosis.
5. Infected wounds and abscesses.
6. Post operatives and post parturant infections.

Dose

I/M injection for animals.
Cattle, Sheep and Goat: 1ml of the product / 10 kg b.wt (eq.to 20 mg of oxytetracycline base / kg b.wt).

The dose may repeated after 72 hours if required.

Withdrawal Time

Meat; 28 days.

Precautions

- Don't dilute the preparation.
- Not recommended for cats, dogs and horses.
- If the dose exceeds 20 ml ( in cattle) or 5ml ( in sheep and goat) the preparation is injected in different sites.

Contraindication

It binds with calcium ions when given with ringers solution.
Not to be used with other bactericidal drugs.

Side effects

Large dose for long time may produce nephrotoxicity especially in renal insufficiency.
Oxytetracyclines chelates calcium in teeth and bones so,may cause yellowish discoloration to them.

Storage conditions

Store in cool, dry and dark place

at temperature less than 25o c
